Seen & Unseen
Project TypE: SET DESIGN, SPATIAL DESIGN, INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE
Completed at: Final year, Taylor’s University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
This project proposes an activation of incorporating a production house and a cooking club set along Jalan Sultan in Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur. This proposal envisions a ‘Seen & Unseen’ Production House as an enticing space that embraces the daily activities in the vicinity. This aims to formulate a new material expression for the spaces of the production house. One, which encapsulates the complexity of human thoughts and activities influenced by the mass media.
The project aims to address this issue by creating a material expression to take over control of the space. The layered nature of the reflective surfaces creates a screen of varying levels of transparency and opacity, distorting, concealing and hiding the nature of the space it contains. Hence, Seen & Unseen will be a communal space for the people.
